*Takes a breath*
where do I even start with this idiotic beastly excuse of a creation.
1stly its annoying how certain people are just sayin 'ahh its jobless uneducated badly raised yobs who took part in the riots' no! there is an underlying issue that provoked that , just to be clear i am in no way condoning the actions but things cannot be looked at at face value.
2ndly how dare this excuse of a human say that 'black' is (his words) a particular sort of violent, destructive, nialistic, gangster culture adopting a jamaican, patois that has been intruded in England. EXCUSE ME!!! You cannot say that black people's culture is violent...believe you me if violence was so
innate to us slavery would not have happend because we collectively would have risen up and murdered their clarrts kmt!
So slavery...the blacks were not violent against their agressive slave masters who treated the slaves inhumanely...by beating and raping them. Also, blacks never used their tribalry antics as calous violence...rather it was only used to protect their land and families or to kill with the main priority of survival, now compare this to the Western world where in Rome and other places...violence, slaughtering and human butchery was not used as a survival technique but rather an avenue for entertainment. Now tell me whose CULTURE is violent.
For such a 'learned' man he really has no common sense, for him to have forgotten the meaning of the word culture from his early history lessons, the saying must be true that the more learned a person is, the more they lack in common sense.
Thirdly, the 'them and us' culture...you are separating yourself from these people whom you discriminate against, are filling your mind with in depth versions of your own prejudiced thoughts about these people and are bundling them all under the same umbrella. You can't go off what views you had when the norm was to believe 'black is broke and black is bad' and try to apply this to our society now, NO! In this society 'black is bold and black is beautiful'
Fourthly, the (common) rap argument.....hmmm.....as I always say...if it takes just a bunch of lyrics to move someone to do the wrong thing...then that individual is quite weak in their own self. Yes I will say this over and over again...there are different types of rap so you cannot generalise and say all of rap glorifies a violent nature because it really does not (not even going to continue with that argument because it could go on forever). Secondly, I thank God for this woman stating the point that she did....she says rap, the media, advertising, society and even parents are doing exactly the same thing...they all enforce the paradigm that MONEY=SUCCESS, if you havent got money you are not succeful and therefore not happy, and with this mindset...people that cannot afford material possessions...went to take what they thought would make them happy or things that they could sell and (in their mind) make their looting effort and selling opportunity...a success. Thirdly, how can you say rap glorifies rioting on the streets....he needs to sight these 'examples' he has apparently seen b'cos only song that comes to mind about revolutionary action is Kirk Franklin (revolution) and he is a gospel artist so I doubt violent
riots is what he meant.
I mean, this guy says at these times we need 'plain speaking', but please if you are going to speak then please...mr man...plainly speak SENSE! not irrational, idiotic, personal racist perceptions of soceity.
Lastly, in referrence to his point about 'the black male culture militating against education'. REALLY!!!!???!!! Number one...look at Obama...is he not a black male and is he not educated, look at nas, tupac, malcolm x and others....are they not black males and yet were they not educated (nas dropped out of school but educated HIMSELF and malcom x read the whole dictionary during his time in jail) so do not even dare blatantly say that to be a black male is to be against education...if you even look at young black males today many who may be doing youth centre jobs, dj'ing, athletics or other 'vocational' career jobs...they most if not all have at least a self educated, college level qualification or degree under their belt, also...in black CULTURE it is most of the time heavily taught to the children that University is the aspirational level at where you can decide to leave the education system....personally speaking...I had never heard of anyone not wanting to go to university till I went to a predominantly white school and I remember feeling so baffled by their suggestions of not going to University (and by the way...these were kids in private education not in 'some poor area of london') so, I would say...that the black male CULTURE is to aspire and succeed in whatever area you find yourself to be intrested in because, for example, if black men (and black people in general) put their mind to what they do, whether that be education, sport, music, drugs, or any criminal activity (419), there is one thing I know....their aim is to succeed! So THAT is our culture.
